Barely a day goes by without some crazy new government scheme to cause more misery for the poor motorist. Today in the news, the Driving Standards Agency announced that in future, the driving test would not only rate your ability to drive safely, but also your ‘efficiency’. Now, most people know that if you use the acelerator gently and drive sensibly, you’ll use less fuel. The DSA propose that in future, although you won’t fail your test for driving uneconomically, you’ll receive a few words and a leaflet from your examiner telling you not to accelerate too hard, and not brake too quickly.
I’m sure it’ll have a great effect of the youngsters that gather at the Farnborough McDonalds in their neon-lit Saxo’s at night, racing each other to the Clockhouse roundabout and back!
